The LUPR Story
Sean Harley, LUPR founder and CEO, has spent over 20 years in procurement consulting. He has experienced firsthand the struggles and frustrations companies face when using outdated information to manage their suppliers.
One pivotal event stands out in Sean’s career: He was consulting for a global oil company when they experienced a catastrophic ocean spill caused by one of their suppliers. The fallout was extensive, encompassing significant financial losses, severe reputational damage, and devastating environmental impacts. Sean was brought in to mitigate the crisis, developing and implementing a comprehensive risk management strategy that addressed immediate cleanup efforts, regulatory compliance, and long-term supplier engagement protocols.
This experience underscored for Sean the critical importance of effectively managing supplier quality and risks. It became evident that traditional methods, such as spreadsheets, are inadequate for handling such crucial tasks. Sean’s insights from this event have since driven his commitment to advancing procurement and supplier management practices, emphasizing the need for integrated solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce risks, and drive sustainable value across the organization. By doing so, organizations can not only avoid catastrophic failures but also build more resilient and responsible supply chains.

Sean Harley has 20+ years of business consulting experience with deep expertise in procurement and supply chain management. He has successfully designed and executed strategic sourcing and supplier development programs for Fortune 500 companies.
A former U.S. Navy Lieutenant and Electronics Material Officer, he has served onboard the U.S.S. Arkansas (CGN - 41).
Sean earned his M.B.A. from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University, and has a B.A from the University of Notre Dame.

He earned his B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
